The Plunket Shield match between the Wellington Firebirds and the Central Stags is expected to begin tomorrow, after the Basin Reserve was given the all-clear by the Wellington Region Emergency Management Office and engineers
The four-day match was scheduled to begin this morning.
But the start was delayed after the 7.5 magnitude earthquake centred near Hanmer Springs, so the venue could be assessed for damage.
A spokesperson for New Zealand Cricket says it has been deemed safe and as long as circumstances don't change before tomorrow morning, the match will get underway at 10.30am.
Hagley Oval in Christchurch and Saxton Oval in Nelson - which are both set to host international matches this week - have also been assessed.
The Black Caps are set to begin their first Test match against Pakistan in Christchurch on Thursday, while the White Ferns are scheduled to play their fourth one day international against the Pakistan women in Nelson on the same day.
Both venues have been deemed safe with fully operational facilities, but they'll be reassessed daily, with a final decision on whether those matches will go ahead to be made closer to the date.
