Black Ferns coach Glenn Moore says he has mixed emotions about his side's 20-10 win over Canada in Dublin this morning.

New Zealand led 8-nil at half-time at Donnybrook.

Canada were first to strike in the second half when Magali Harvey intercepted a loose pass and outpaced the cover defence to close the gap to 8-5.

The Black Ferns needed to answer back quick to quell the Canada's momentum and did just that when replacement Aotearoa Mata'u barged over from close range.

The Black Ferns wasted no time striking back when Selica Winiata went over for her second try in the 68th minute to make it 20-10.

The victory means the Black Ferns retain their world No.1 ranking while Canada remain in second but Moore said that's not his priority at the moment.

"There were some parts of that game that were a little bit messy particularly the recycling of some our ball which made it a little bit difficult to get some continuity but you have to be happy - two wins so far.

"The unfortunate thing is it looks like we have a few casualties."

Moore said it was too early to say what the extent of his team's injuries were but will reassess them tomorrow.

While Moore was disappointed in some aspects of his team's performance, captain Fiao'o Faamausili said she was pleased with her side's strong start.

"It was pretty tough to start off with but I think we've trained hard all this whole week and I'm just amazed that the girls really pulled through today and we said to start with a bang when the whistle went and that's how we started," Faamausili said.

The Black Ferns next test is against Ireland on Monday morning.
