The 27-year-old had been playing for Wairarapa-Bush in the Heartland Championship but recently moved to Waikato in the hope of re-igniting his rugby career.

Guildford played 11 tests for the All Blacks and over 80 Super Rugby games, but he's had a troubled career, largely due to incidents involving alcohol.

He was given a release from French club Clermont for personal reasons in 2015 and returned home.

He subsequently played for the NSW Waratahs in Super Rugby, but he also left his contract early to return to New Zealand for 'wellbeing reasons'.
