Shergar jockey dies

The triple English Derby-winning jockey Walter Swinburn has died at the age of 55.

Nicknamed the 'Choirboy', Swinburn was 19 when he rode Shergar to a10-length victory in the 1981 Derby at Epsom - the longest winning margin in the race's history.

Two years later the Irish bred and British trained Shergar wasstolen from the Ballymany Stud in County Kildare by suspected IRA gunmen dressed as police officers and never seen again.

The incident has been the inspiration for several books, documentaries, and a film.
