IPL player boycott fears allayed

The threat of mass withdrawals from the Indian Premier Cricket League seems to have been allayed after organisers gave new commitments over security ten days out from the start of the Twenty20 tournament.

The IPL commissioner Lalit Modi initially refused to discuss security arrangements with Players Unions, but they've now been assured that the IPL security plan will be implemented at all venues.

National Players Associations commissioned their own security report by the Australian expert Reg Dickason who is now satisfied, along with several national governments, that a reported threat to the tournament from an al-Qaeda cell was "not credible".
