Ponting doubts McCullum will play the same in one dayers

5:52 am on 3 March 2010

The Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting doubts Brendon McCullum will try the same audacious shot making in the one day series as he did in New Zealand's Twenty-20 win in Christchurch at the weekend.

McCullum's unbeaten 116, which was highlighted by ramping the ball over the wicketkeeper, set New Zealand up for the win.

The two sides begin a five match one day series today, with the opening match in Napier and Ponting admits they've have discussed McCullum's antics.

Ponting says McCullum will probably have to bat more conservatively in the longer version of the game.

He says McCullum will probably feel a bit more responsibility as the inform batsman in the New Zealand side.

However Ponting says they have discussed their bowling if McCullum does return to the style in showed in Christchurch on Sunday.
