Patel joins the squad following New Zealand's 67-run win over the visitors at the Nelson ground yesterday, where the home side wrapped up the series with a game still to play.

The Black Caps only full-time spinner Mitchell Santner claimed one wicket on the slow pitch, while Kane Williamson, who only bowls occasionally, dismissed three of the Bangladesh players with his spin.

The New Zealand coach Mike Hesson said it was a horses for courses selection.

"With the slow nature of the Saxton Oval surface and the number of left handers in the Bangladesh line-up, we feel Jeetan will be a good option to have for the final game," Hesson said.

"He's been bowling very well for the Wellington Firebirds in the McDonald's Super Smash and will be a welcome addition to the squad."

Patel will join the side in Nelson today, with the match scheduled to get underway at 11.00am on Saturday.
