The New Zealand striker Shane Smeltz is available for selection for the Wellington Phoenix in tonight's A-League football match against Perth Glory, after his international transfer was completed.
The Phoenix football operations manager Shaun Gill says the cooperation of New Zealand Football, the Malaysian Football Association and Football Federation Australia had seen the transfer completed quickly.
The Phoenix coaches Des Buckingham and Chris Greenacre say they're delighted there were no hold ups with the transfer.
"To have a player of Shane's quality added to the squad at this point in the season is a real boost,"said head coach Buckingham.
"It gives us another option up front which is important as we aim for the playoffs.
"Hamish Watson has done a good job for us in recent weeks and will continue to be an important part of the squad, while Shane adds tremendous experience to the line-up."
The team has not yet been named for the match at Perth's nib stadium, which kick's off at 11 o'clock tonight (NZ time).
