After winning the toss and chosing to bat, the Kings' opening batsman Chad Bowes top scored with 56 as his team reached 151 for seven after twenty overs.

In reply, the Firebirds opener Michael Papps top scored for Wellington with 45 before his teammate Luke Woodcock hit the winning run with four balls to spare.

The result marks an unlikely comeback for the Firebirds who were on the bottom of the six team table halfway through the season.
