NZ para skier wins silver

New Plymouth para alpine skier Corey Peters has won a silver medal in the Super-G at the first World Cup speed races of the season in Austria.

Peters, a sit skier who is the current World Champion for Downhill and Super-G, finished 0.62 seconds behind Switzerland's Christoph Kunz.

The podium finish at the Austrian resort of Innerkrems was Peters' second of the week, having won one of two downhill races on Thursday.

His Wanaka based team mate, Adam Hall finished seventh in the standing class.

The 2017 World Para Alpine Skiing Championships get underway in Tarvisio, Italy, on January 22, featuring 140 skiers from 30 countries, in the last major competition ahead of the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games.
