The Manawatu first five Aaron Cruden gets his first start for the Hurricanes, named in the number 10 jersey for their Super 14 clash against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Sunday morning.

Cruden has come off the bench in the sides first 3 wins, but will start in a new look backline forced on coach Colin Cooper after injuries to Tamati Ellison and Conrad Smith.

Alapati Leiua will debut at centre outside Ma'a Nonu with Andre Taylor on the wing, while in the other change Michael Patterson starts at lock for the injured Jason Eaton, with Victor Vito on the blindside.

Leiua only joined the squad two weeks ago as injury cover.

The Hurricanes have won their three opening matches, while the Cheetahs are one from three.
