Silver Ferns trounce Wales

The Silver Ferns have trounced Wales 92-27 in the opening test of a two match series in Cardiff.

New Zealand, ranked second in the world behind Australia, made light work of the eighth ranked Welsh dominating from the outset to lead 22-9 at the end of the first quarter.

The Silver Ferns extended that to 45-18 by halftime and were up 67-25 by the end of the third quarter.

Gina Crampton, at wing attack, and goalkeeper Kelly Jury made their first starts at Test Match level with coach Janine Southby running a variety of combinations throughout the match.

Bailey Mes missed just one of her 26 shots on goal while fellow shooter Te Paea Selby-Rickit with 40 from 44 was named player of the match.

The two sides play again on Thursday.
