Melbourne's loss is Warriors gain

Melbourne's loss is the Warriors gain, with the Kiwis captain Jesse Bromwich ruled out of Friday's night's National Rugby league match in Auckland.

Melbourne will find out just how difficult it is to replace Bromwich, who has only missed two NRL games since 2011.

Bromwich will miss the match after his dislocated thumb pierced through his skin in their opening win over Canterbury.

Bromwich, 27, made his NRL debut in 2010 and has played 160 games, winning the club's best and fairest for the last three years.

He missed their round 24 clash in 2014 for the birth of his second child, while his last game out injured was in round 26, 2011.

"He's been unbelievably resilient for a front-rower," Storm coach Craig Bellamy said.

"He's certainly going to be a big loss for us."

Melbourne have however secured Bromwich long-term with the 27 year old signing a three-year contract extension which will keep at the club at least the end of the 2020 season, with an option to extend by a further two years.
