Black Caps struggling in second test

South Africa have dominated the opening session of the second cricket test against New Zealand in Wellington with the hosts slumping to 73-4 at lunch.

Opener Jeet Raval fell for 36 on the final ball before lunch, wafting at a wide delivery from spinner Keshav Maharaj in just his first over.

Raval and Henry Nicholls, 24, had started to re-build New Zealand's innings putting on 52 for the fourth wicket after the Black Caps were teetering at 21-3.

Tom Latham was the first to go for eight, skipper Kane Williamson amde two while debutant Neil Broom was dismissed for a three ball duck.

Kagiso Rababa is the most successful of the South African bowlers so far, taking two wickets including that of Williamson while Morne Morkel and Maharaj have one each.

The first test in Dunedin was drawn.
