An unbroken sixth stand of 59 between Henry Nicholls and BJ Watling has helped New Zealand recover to 160 for five at tea on the opening day of the second cricket test against South Africa in Wellington.

Nicholls is on 74 having brought up his fourth test half century while Watling is on 21.
It's been struggle for the Black Caps for the much of the day.
They slumped to 21-3 after South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl.
Tom Latham was the first to go for eight, skipper Kane Williamson amde two while debutant Neil Broom was dismissed for a three ball duck.

Opener Jeet Raval and Henry Nicholls were in the process of rebuilding the New Zealand innings having put on 52 for the fourth wicket when Raval fell for 36 on the final ball before lunch, wafting at a wide delivery from spinner Keshav Maharaj.
Jimmy Neesham was the last wicket to fall, shortly after lunch when he was also undone by Maharaj, when he was stumped for 15.
