After rounds of 68 and 69 Ko is seven under for the tournament in a tie for 40th, trailing the leaders Ariya Jutanugarn of Thailand and American, Stacy Lewis.

On day two at Wildfire Golf Club, Ko struck three birdies on the way out, but could only manage pars coming home.

"It looks like there's a lot of birdies out there and I just couldn't get anything to drop especially on the back nine," said Ko.

"Hopefully I'll get some to drop on the weekend but with this course condition players are playing aggressive and that's why there are a lot of birdies."

In three starts at the tournament, known as the Founders Cup, Ko has finished the runner-up twice.
