All Blacks flanker Sam Cane must pass concussion protocols before being cleared to join his Chiefs team-mates for next week's Super Rugby game in South Africa, while Fa'auli has been suspended for four weeks for a dangerous tackle in last weekend's win over the Bulls.

Cane has been been included in the 27-man squad to tour South Africa and Australia over the next three rounds however the won't be available for next weekend's match against the Stormers in Cape Town.

If cleared to tour, Cane will fly to South Africa on Thursday and begin preparing for the Chiefs' following match against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein.

The news was more bleak for prop Nepo Laulala who, like Cane, was forced from the field with a head knock suffered during the 28-12 defeat of the Bulls in Hamilton on Saturday.

Four-Test tighthead Laulala was added to a list of 11 contracted players unavailable to tour.

Midfield back Johnny Fa'auli had been bracketed with uncapped Bay of Plenty representative Alex Nankivell.

But Fa'auli has been suspended from all forms of the game for four weeks, up to and including Saturday 29 April.

The SANZAAR judiciary accepted a guilty plea from Fa'auli for a dangerous tackle against the Bulls in Hamilton.
