Going into the final day the New Zealand was ahead 2-1 on matches with the reverse singles to be played.

However their advantage was wiped quickly when South Korea's top player Soon Woo Kwon beat New Zealand number one Rubin Statham in straight sets 6-3 6-2 6-4 to square the Tie up at 2-2.

That meant Venus had to beat Seong Chan Hong to claim the win for New Zealand.

He won the first set 6-3 but then lost the next two sets 6-3 6-4 to be on the verge of losing.

In the fourth set the Kiwi re-emerged with energy after an early break of serve and dominated his opponent taking the set 6-2.

Venus then took the final set 6-3 to claim the win for the home team..

New Zealand have cemented their place in Asia/Oceania Group 1 while Korea will have to fight against Chinese Taipei to remain in the group.
