Johnson, 26, has re-signed with the team trough to the end of the 2019 NRL season.

He said he was thrilled to settle his future with the club in what he regards as the most important contract of his career so far.

"This was a big contract for a lot of reasons and I'm excited to be able to lock it away and know I'll be here for another two years.

"My belief in this club is massive and my belief that we can do something special here is bigger than ever with everything we have in place," Johnson said.

Johnson has appeared 133 times for the club, and has moved ahead of Stacey Jones club record of 674 points with his total now sitting at 717.

"I could go to another club and another system but I realised winning at another club wouldn't mean as much as winning here, that's what I want to be a part of here."

Johnson's two-year contract leaves him in line to extend his career to nine seasons with the the club.

The announcement comes as five-eighth Kieran Foran's move to the Canterbury Bulldogs looks imminent.

Earlier today departing Canterbury star Josh Reynolds admitted it hurt to be squeezed out by Foran but he has no ill will towards the Bulldogs.

The five-eighth said he hoped to stay for Foran's impending arrival before signing a lucrative four-year deal to join the West Tigers at the end of the season.

"It does hurt a bit because he's (Foran) coming to the club I love, and I would have loved to have stayed," Reynolds said.

"When I heard they might be signing him I was a bit scared because I wasn't sure how I was going to fit in.

"The reality is that someone is going to have to go and I really didn't think that was going to be me, I really wanted to stay."
