Cleveland will play the Golden State Warriors in the NBA basketball finals for the third successive year after the Cavaliers completed their series victory against the Boston Celtics.

LeBron James became the highest scorer in NBA play-off history, surpassing Michael Jordan's record of 5987, with a 35-point effort for the Cavaliers.

That helped the visitors ease to a 135-102 victory that wrapped up a 4-1 series victory and clinched the Eastern Conference.

It is the seventh successive year James has led his team to the finals, with four straight appearances for the Miami Heat preceding his return to Cleveland in 2014.

Cleveland came through the Eastern Conference playoffs by winning 12 of their 13 games and will now defend their title against the Warriors, who were a perfect 12-0 as they came through the Western Conference play-offs.
