Ponting refuses to blame umpires for loss

10:43 am on 14 March 2010

The Australian skipper Ricky Ponting's refusing to blame poor umpiring, for his side's 51 run loss to New Zealand in the fifth and final Chappell-Hadlee one day cricket international in Wellington last night.

Australia had already retained the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy with three wins in the first four matches.

Ponting was controversially given out caught off his helmet by umpire Gary Baxter while teamate Adam Voges was also given out caught, when he also appeared to miss the ball.

Ponting however was philosophical.

The two sides now play two tests, the first of which starts in Wellington on Friday.
