The Northern Mystics have leapfrogged the Central Pulse into third place in netball's ANZ Premiership after a 64-53 win in Auckland.

After two losses to the Pulse in earlier rounds, the Mystics reignited their campaign putting a dent in the Pulse's aspirations.

The unbeaten Southern Steel top the standings with 22 points, the Magic have 16 points, and Mystics and Pulse 14, separated by goal diffrence.

The two sides were level at 17-all at the end of the first quarter but strong Mystics defence and pin point long range shooting from Silver Ferns attacker Maria Tutaia began to take its toll on the Pulse, as the home edged to a five point halftime lead.

The Mystics built on that lead in to be up 53-41 at three quarter time as the Pulse slipped to their second straight loss following the previous round's embarrassing 80-44 thrashing at the hands of the Southern Steel.
