Darren Bazeley's men went into the clash aiming to become the first ever team from New Zealand to make it to the quarter-finals of the tournament.

At half time the team's ambition appeared achievable with USA taking a one-nil advantage heading into the break.

However the final third of the match proved the difference with USA's depth showing its class, scoring five unsanswered goals in just 30 minutes.

Coach Darren Bazeley made a number of tactical changes throughout the final third to try and stop the goal scoring onslaught but nothing could stop USA's momentum.
