The Hurricanes three-quarter Nehe Milner-Skudder says he's just happy to be back on the field and he's not thinking too far ahead.

Milner-Skudder got 20 minutes off the bench in the Hurricanes Super Rugby win over the Western Force on Saturday night, his first outing since breaking a bone in his foot in round 3 in March.

The All Blacks squad for the Lions series is named on Thursday and while he'd probably be an outsider for that, Steve Hansen may consider him with Ben Smith in some doubt after leaving the field at the weekend.

Milner-Skudder isn't sure what part if any he'll play against the Lions.

"Yeh not too sure, I guess all will be revealed on Thursday (when the All Black squad is named). Obviously I'd like to have been playing a few more games for the Hurricanes this year, but with injuries that's out of my control, I'll just see what the story is on Thursday and go from there."

While he may not be considered for the All Blacks, Milner-Skudder has an opportunity to turn out for the Maori All Blacks and the Hurricanes against the Lions.

He says the All Blacks have been keeping in touch with him while he's been recuperating.

"Yeh just had check ins with how the foot is tracking and how the rehab is going, that's been quite comforting to know that I'm still on the radar somewhat, but I guess you can't read too much into the future and obviously what happens on Thursday.

"To get a bit of a game in (in Perth) was pretty positive.

The Hurricanes play the Chiefs next weekend.
