Retallick was left out of the Chiefs side to take on the Hurricanes in their Super Rugby game in Wellington on Friday because he was suffering from headaches.

Retallick suffered a head knock in their win over the Waratahs last weekend and left the field.

The Chiefs said he passed all his concussion tests and they were just being cautious.

The Chiefs assistant coach Neil Barnes says he spoke to Retallick today and says "he's feeling a lot better."

Barnes says Retallick will continue to go through the protocols, but feels he's "pretty right."

All Blacks coach Steve Hansen will name his squad to take on the Lions on Thursday.

Their are a number of players either not currently not playing or facing time off including Kieran Read, Dane Coles, Ryan Crotty, Jerome Kaino and Ben Smith.
