Venus and his American partner Ryan Harrison defeated Ivan Dodig and Marcel Granollers 6-2 3-6 6-3 in one hour 31 minutes after a rain delayed match.

The win will take 39th ranked Venus into the top 30 for the first time.

Venus and Harrison will face Colombian 16th seeds Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah for a place in the final.

A New Zealander has not made a Grand Slam semi final since Brett Steven got through to the semis of the French Open in 1995 with American partner Tommy Ho.
