White Ferns beaten by Australia

The New Zealand women's cricket team has lost a world cup warm up match against Australia by 46 runs in Southampton in England.

Batting first Australia made 287, with Ellyse Perry top scoring with 104 off 99 balls.

Sophie Devine and Anna Peterson were the most successful of the New Zealand bowlers with three wickets each.

The White Ferns run chase got off to the worst possible start with captain Suzie Bates dismissed very first ball lbw.

New Zealand slumped 126 for seven before tailenders Peterson with 42 and Thamsyn Newton 41 added some respectability to the innings, with the White Ferns all out for 241.

New Zealand have warm up matches against India and England next week before their opening match against Sri Lanka on Saturday.
