Venus takes out first round at Queen's Club

French Open doubles champion, Michael Venus and Ryan Harrison have made a good start to their Wimbledon build up by winning their first round match at the Queen's Club tournament in London.

Venus became the first New Zealander to win a grand slam in 40 years when he took out the French Open Doubles Title with American partner Ryan Harrison earlier this month.

At the Queen's Club Tournament overnight Venus and Harrison defeated experienced Spanish pairing of Feliciano Lopez and Marc Lopez 6-2 6-4 in under an hour.

They will now play third seeds Jamie Murray from Scotland and Bruno Soares from Brazil in the quarter finals.

Fellow Kiwi Marcus Daniell and Brazilian partner Marcelo Demoliner play their last eight match at the same tournament against Croatia's Marin Cilic and Marcin Matkowski from Poland.

Meanwhile Marina Erakovic is into the singles second round at the Ilkley Challenger in Britain.
