The Northern Stars netball coach Julie Hoornweg has decided not to seek an extension of her contract with the new franchise and return home to Australia.
Hoornweg said it had been challenging establishing a new side, which represents the south and east of Auckland.
"I think we've set the base for this new team and I'm confident they're in a good place to keep moving forward."
Injuries hamstrung the Stars efforts on court early in the season but the caused a couple of upsets later on.
The Northern Stars general manager Tim Hamilton said while they were disappointed to lose the Hoornweg they were thankful of the role she had played in establish the foundations the side and will begin the search for a new coach immediately.
