Lee fired a final round four under par 67 to climb three spots and finished two shots from the winner, Jordan Spieth.

Spieth clinched his 10th PGA Tour victory in the same way as his first, by holing a bunker shot to win.

Spieth triumphed in stunning fashion by holing out the sand shot from 30 feet for birdie to beat fellow American Daniel Berger at the first extra hole.

23 year old Spieth joins elite company as the second-youngest player since 1945 to notch 10 tour victories after Tiger Woods.

Lee picks up 540 thousand dollars from the event to take his season earnings to 1.8 million.

Lee's only win on the tour was in 2015.

The result will move him up to 51st in the Fedex Cup standings.

Fellow New Zealander Tim Wilkinson finished tied for 43rd.

Meanwhile Lydia Ko finished tied for 25th, 10 shots from the winner So-Yeon Ryu of South Korea, in the latest LPGA event in Arkansas.
