Phoenix sign Croatian midfielder

The Wellington Phoenix have signed a 30 year old Croatian to boost their experience in the midfield.

Goran Paracki has signed a one year contract and will join the squad immediately.

Paracki has played nearly 200 first division games across a decade in his native Croatia and has represented Croatia at U19 level.

Phoenix head coach Darije Kalezić said the defensive midfielder is an ideal fit for the squad he's building.

"Goran's natural position is holding midfielder," said Kalezić.

"He is hard-working, has a good mentality - a mentality that fits very well with the Australian and New Zealand league style."

"He comes from a very good professional environment, on the ball he's also a very technical player, which adds a lot of quality in the way that we want to play our football."

Paracki said he is excited about the new opportunity's in the A- League.

"I've played most of my life in Croatia. But Darije called me and told me about his background, his project here at Wellington."

"I signed for just one season, but I am hoping that I can make this a longer stay."
