The Chiefs are confident they'll overcome jetlag and topple the Crusaders in Saturday night's super rugby semi final in Christchurch.
The odds are stacked against them though after returning from South Africa following their win over the Stormers in the quarter finals.
The Chiefs stumbled at the semi-final stage last year in a similar situation.
After trouncing the Stormers in Capetown and they returned to New Zealand only to lose to eventual winners the Hurricanes.
But coach Dave Rennie says every other time they've returned from South Africa they've enjoyed success.
"We've certainly looked at everything we did previously...we've come back from Africa seven times in the past six years and won six of them (the next game)," said Rennie.
"But we can do things better and we have looked at everything ...and I certainly think we are a lot better placed than we were this time a year ago.
"In the end it's around recovery - getting the mind right and getting the body right and convincing ourselves we're ready to go. We've had success down there in the past and...we know we playing probably the form team of the comp but we back ourselves," said Rennie.
