McCartney will line up on the first day of the meet on Saturday having just recovered from an achilles injury, a recurrence of a condition that hampered her build up to last year's Olympics.

However she shook that off to win a bronze medal in Rio and says she's feeling good again before her first World Championships appearance.

"It's going really well," she told Radio NZ.

"It has compromised my build up quite a bit but we're at a place now where I've been able to build a good base, lots of rehab and it's under control so I think we're in a good space.

The 20-year-old missed a number of events leading into this week, but was able to compete in Belgium last week, winning the event with a vault of 4.61m.

While she remains optimistic, she admits disappointment at missing the London Diamond League meet, which would have given her a chance to get used to the Olympic Stadium where she'll compete this weekend.

"It would have been a great experience building up into this London event, but these things happen."

"There's never really a perfect build up anyway so it's not a problem I just did everything I could every day leading up to now so I'm in the best shape I could be for this situation."

McCartney will have to be at her best if she's to medal, with both the women who finished ahead of her in Rio set to line up against her in London.
