The Northern Mystics have beaten the Adelaide Thunderbirds 55-52 in the first game of the 2010 trans-Tasman netball competition in Auckland.
The new-look Mystics led by 10 goals with 10 minutes to go before the Thunderbirds stormed back to within a point.
But the Mystics stretched back out with some crucial possessions to run out three-point winners over last year's beaten finalists.
It was 27-26 at half-time. It's the first time the Mystics have ever beaten an Australian team.
