America's Cup winning helmsman Peter Burling appears set compete in the Volvo Ocean race after he was spotted on boad Dutch entry Team Brunel in England.

The Volvo fleet has just completed the Fastnet race as part of their build up to the round the race which starts in October.

A photo on sailing website sailinganarchy.com shows Burling on board Team Brunel.

Burling's America's Cup teamate and fellow Rio Olympic gold medallist Blair Tuke last month joined Spanish syndicate MAPFRE.

Should either Burling or Tuke be part of the winning team in the round the world race they would become the first sailor to win the sport's triple crown - the America's Cup, Olympic gold and the round the world title.

There's also speculation that Alex Maloney and Molly Meech who won silver medals in the 49er FX class in Rio are also considering sailing in the round the world race.
