The Black Sticks qualify for the Men's Hockey World Cup taking place in India next year.

They finished sixth at the Hockey World League semi-final in Johannesburg last month, which meant they missed out by one spot on automatic qualification.

However, recent results at the Pan American Cup in Pennsylvania have favoured the Black Sticks.

Both teams in the Pan Am Cup final, Argentina and Canada, had already qualified for the World Cup via the Hockey World League route.

It means a spot at the World Cup was then offered to the next highest finisher at the Hockey World League Semi-Final - which was New Zealand.

The Men's Hockey World Cup 2018 will be New Zealand's 10th appearance at the World Cup.
