New Zealand's French Open doubles champion Michael Venus remains on course for a second Grand Slam title this year.

Venus and Taipei's Hao-Ching Chan have enjoyed a come from behind quarter final win in the Mixed doubles at the US Open in New York.

The third seeds beat seventh seeds Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski and India's Rohan Bopanna 4-6, 6-3 10-8 in the Super tie break with the match taking just over an hour.

Venus and Chan made a sluggish start, dropping serve early and although they had break point chances, were unable to get back into the set.

However they broke early in the second set and went on to level the match at one set all.

The match went to a super tie break (first to 10 points) and Venus and Chan raced to a 9-5 lead before eventually closing it out 10-7 on their third match point.

Following a disappointing first round exit with Ryan Harrison in the men's doubles, the run through to the semis in the Mixed doubles is a great consolation for Venus.

Although he doesn't get ranking points he is now guaranteed a share of $40 thousand for making the semis and would earn a share of $175 thousand if he and Chan win the title.

They will play either the 8th seeds Lucie Hradecka and Marcin Matkowski or Anastasia Rodionova and Oliver Marach for a place in the final.
