The Roses had to hold off a tenacious New Zealand effort in the final quarter after leading for much of the match.

Guided by shooter Jo Harten, who shot 25 from 32, England proved more efficient in converting their turnovers to hold on for a late win.

The visitors led 38-37 at the final break and after fading to lose the first Test 62-55 three days ago, they maintained pressure today right to the final whistle to secure the win.

Silver Ferns development squad member Claire Kersten made her debut when she replaced Kayla Cullen at wing defence in the second half.

The third and final Test is in Hamilton on Wednesday.
