Teeth bared for second time in World Cup

England winger Jermaine McGillvary will have to wait until Monday afternoon to learn if he'll be charged over allegedly biting Lebanon's Robbie Farah - a decision that could end his Rugby League World Cup.

McGillvary, who has scored six tries in seven Tests for England, was placed on report in the 42nd minute of his team's 29-10 win over Lebanon in Sydney on Saturday night.

Farah reported the incident to referee Ben Thaler following a scuffle, pointing to what he claimed were bite marks on his forearm after making a tackle in which his arm went around the winger's head.

It's understood the tournament's match review committee - the NRL's panel of chairman Michael Buettner, Ben Ross and Michael Hodgson - will not sit until Monday, with decisions handed down by the close of business.

The incident is the second biting allegation to rock the tournament, after Wales forward Ben Evans made the same claim against PNG prop Wellington Albert last week in Port Moresby.

Evans later unsuccessfully tried to withdraw the complaint, but eventually no charges were laid.

If McGillvary is charged, he would likely face a judiciary hearing either in person or via teleconference in Sydney on Wednesday night before England's final pool match with France in Perth on Sunday.

Any suspension for biting would almost rule him out for the rest of the tournament, given England only have a maximum of four matches remaining if they make the final.
