The reinforcements have arrived for the All Blacks in France with veterans Sam Whitelock and Wyatt Crockett have joined the side in Paris ahead of this weekend's test against France.

The pair got an extra week at home to rest up in the wake of the rugby championship and Bledisloe Cup.

Crockett says a big part of their job now is to bring a boost in energy to the camp.

"That extra four or five days at home in your own bed is bloody good and the job for us to do now is to come back and bring that energy and excitement to the group. So we are very grateful for that week at home and we've got to make up for it now."

Whitelock said while he appreciated the time off it was still difficult coming to terms with not playing at times.

"I always want to be playing but sometimes you are told you have to take some time out. The older I have got the more I understand it's not just about the next week it's about the whole season.

"It's not like we're sitting at home on the couch. We're still working hard trying to get stronger and fitter ...it's aabout just trying to reduce travel."

Whitelock said he never gets tired of coming to Paris and was looking forward to heading up the Eiffel Tower once again.
