New Zealand have extended their lead over the West Indies to 342 at tea on the third day of the second cricket test against the West Indies in Hamilton.

The Black Caps are 190 for five with Ross Taylor having scored his 29th test fifty - he's on 56. Colin de Grandhomme is at the crease with him 12.

Earlier skipper Kane Williamson made his 25th test century, before being dismissed for 54.

The West Indies generally bowled tightly but were guilty of fielding lapses.

Miguel Cummins, with his first ball of the morning, caught and bowled Jeet Raval, attempting a pull, for four.

Raymon Reifer then trapped Tom Latham (22) lbw to have the hosts 42-2.

It was a straightforward decision but New Zealand lost a review when they challenged it. The ball tracker showed the ball would have hit leg stump.

At the start of the day the Windies resumed at 215-8, however, two wickets in two balls from Trent Boult meant they added just six runs to their overnight total to be 152 runs behind New Zealand's first innings of 373.

Boult returned figures of 4-73, Tim Southee 2-34, Neil Wagner 2-73 and Colin de Grandhomme 2-40.

New Zealand lead the two-match series 1-0 after thumping the tourists by an innings and 67 runs in Wellington.
