The International Athletics Federation is reallocating six world indoor medals at the Championships in Birmingham this weekend, but Dame Valerie Adams 2010 shot put gold medal will be awarded at a later date.

The upgrades follow the disqualification of the results of the original medallists after their sanction for anti-doping rule violations.

Adams was promoted from silver to gold from the 2010 World Indoor Championships in Doha after Nadzeya Ostapchuk of Belarus was later banned.

Adams is currently preparing for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and was unable to make the trip to Birmingham this weekend.

The IAAF says they're in contact with the Athletics New Zealand to arrange an occasion to present Adams with her gold medal.

It may happen at the National Championships in Hamilton next week or the Christchurch Big Shot event a week later.

Adams has won four world indoor titles, four world outdoor titles and two Olympic titles.

Meanwhile there are four New Zealanders competing in Birmingham this weekend.

Tom Walsh will defend his shot put title, while Eliza McCartney will compete in the polevault and Julian Oakley and Hamish Carson are in the 3000 metres.
