Batting first in the first warmup game ahead of the Test series, the locals fell to 30 for 5 with Black Caps Tom Latham, Jeet Ravel, Henry Nicholls and Colin de Grandhomme missing out.

However Wellington wicketkeep Tom Blundell and Canterbury bowler Kyle Jamieson both scored centuries to take the New Zealand Eleven through to 376 for nine.

Jimmy Anderson took four wickets.

Blundell, who was dropped from the test squad to allow BJ Watling to return, made 131 before retiring midway through the final session.

Jamieson, who has a highest first-class score of 40, hit 16 fours and two sixes as he made 101 off 111 delieveries, before he also retired.

Late in the evening Latham, Ravel and Nicholls all got to have a second bat.

England will bat today.

The first day-night Test to be played in New Zealand starts at Eden Park next Thursday.
