Firebirds beat Vixens

6:21 am on 26 April 2010

The Queensland Firebirds snapped the winning streak of the Melbourne Vixens in emphatic style with a 62-41 win in the sixth round of the trans-Tasman netball competition in Brisbane.

The Firebirds turned the tables on a seven-goal loss to the Vixens in round two to bring the unbeaten defending champions back to earth with a thud.

Following an opening of three losses, the Firebirds have followed up with three wins with yesterday's the most complete as they re-established their credentials as top-four prospects.

New South Wales, who have a bye this weekend, now top the standings on goal difference from the Vixens, with Queensland up to 4th behind the Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic, who also have a bye.

Tonight The Central Pulse host the Southern Steel and the West Coast fever host the Adelaide Thunderbirds.
