News Limited boss John Hartigan has launched a withering attack on rugby league player agents in the wake of the Melbourne salary cap scandal.

Hartigan, whose company owns the disgraced Storm, has described managers as misfits and a blight on the game in an interview with Rugby League Week.

Hartigan spoke to the Storm players and staff yesterday, where he called former Melbourne Storm CEO Brian Waldron the chief rat of the NRL club's salary cap scandal.
