The New Zealand Under 20 team has finished fourth at the World Rugby U20 Championship, losing to a fast-finishing South African side in the play off match in France.

New Zealand held a 25-14 lead at the half time break, but South Africa scored four unanswered tries in the second spell to secure the result.

France beat England in the final 33-25.

England were appearing in their sixth-consecutive World Rugby U20 Championship final but after victories in 2013, 2014 and 2016 they were not able to add to that.
