V8 Supercars Australia has announced a new partnership with Hamilton City Council to promote and financially support the New Zealand round of the event.
Citing the race's importance to motorsport, V8 Supercars Australia has signed a seven-year contract to promote the annual April event in Hamilton, while the city council will continue to provide infrastructure support.
V8 Supercars will also underwrite the event for the duration of the contract and introduce new initiatives to expand the weekend-long event.
V8 Supercars Australia Chief Operating Officer Shane Howard says the event has potential for enormous growth, despite already attracting 100,000 people over three days.
Hamilton's hosted the race since 2008.
