The equation is simple, a win for the Hurricanes and Crusaders in the final round of the Super 14 will secure them a play-off spot.

The fifth-placed Hurricanes are at the third-placed NSW Waratahs and the sixth-placed Crusaders are at home after their winless road trip to play the fourth-placed ACT Brumbies.

The Hurricanes turned in their best 60 minutes of the season when they came back from 21-8 down to beat the Queensland Reds 44-21 and after being the most penalised side in the competition, the Hurricanes are now doing what they should, according to coach Colin Cooper.

The Hurricanes haven't been beaten in their last five matches.

The Bulls lead on 47 points and play the second placed Stormers this weekend. The Stormers have 39 points and could miss out on the top four if games don't go their way.

The Waratahs have 38, Brumbies and Hurricanes 37 and Crusaders 36.
