Semenya could return soon

Controversial athlete Caster Semenya's return to competition should be announced in less than a month, according to South Africa's sports minister.

Last September, Reverend Makhenkesi Stofile declared a "third world war" if Semenya was barred from competing after leaked media reports that the 800 metre world champion was a hermaphrodite.

Now the sports minister says "the third World War has been won".

Semenya has said she will return to competitive athletics in June, after world athletics' ruling body the IAAF releases her gender test results.

The IAAF announced shortly before her win at the Berlin championships last year that the runner would have to undergo sex verification tests.
