The Black Ferns Sevens have beaten the United States 33-7 to win the opening leg of the of the world series in Colorado.
The USA scored first but New Zealand quickly bounced back with two tries to Portia Woodman and a third to Sarah Goss to lead 21-7 at halftime.
Needing to score first in the second half the USA were unable to do with Niall Williams crossing for New Zealand's fourth try extending the scoreline to 26-7 with two and a half minutes to play.
Portia Woodman then secured her hatrick with the Black Ferns running out 33-7 winners.
Ruby Tui was named the player of the final.
The next round of the world series is in Dubai at the end of November.
